In 1976, following the mutuality tradition of the Alt Empordà region, a new cooperative experience was initiated in the maritime town of Roses (Alt Empordà), which, under the name of "Dr August Pi Sunyer, S.C.C.L. ", built a residential complex for old people, with the motto - SAVE FOR YOUR OLD AGE Years later, in 1992, the "Nova Vida" Residence opened with eight bungalows, and it has been in use by old people ever since. The "Dr. Pi Sunyer, S.C.C.L" co-operative was given this name in honour and memory of the great man who was so dearly loved by the people and the town of Roses, and who, sadly died in exile.    Since we started there have been many cooperatives from other regions that have shown interest in our experience so that they could repeat it in their own area. Our aims have even awoken the interest of the Commissioners of the European Union, who have qualified our cooperative as a "coopera-mutualist" organisation that has helped people at the time of life when they most need it.
